What are Partner Functions in SAP SD?

Partner Functions identify the different roles involved in a sales transaction. They help SAP determine who is ordering, receiving, paying for, and being billed for the goods. Common Partner Functions: • Sold-to Party (Customer placing the order) • Ship-to Party (Customer receiving the goods) • Bill-to Party (Customer receiving the invoice) • Payer (Customer making the payment)

A company places an order from its Head Office. The goods are delivered to its Branch Office, and the invoice is sent to the Finance Department. In this case, different partner functions are used for ordering, delivery, billing, and payment.
