What is a Material Master? Why is it important in SAP PP?

1. Material Master contains all information about a material. 2. It is created only once and used across multiple SAP modules. 3. It stores data like Material Number, Description, and Unit of Measure. 4. It contains MRP, Purchasing, Accounting, and Production data. 5. It is required for production planning and inventory management. 6. It helps MRP calculate material requirements. 7. It supports production, purchasing, and sales processes. 8. Without a Material Master, production activities cannot be performed.

A company manufactures plastic bottles. 1. Material "Plastic Granules" is created in the Material Master. 2. MRP checks its stock before production. 3. If stock is insufficient, MM creates a Purchase Requisition. 4. Material is received into inventory. 5. PP creates a Production Order. 6. Plastic granules are consumed during production. 7. Finished bottles are produced. 8. Stock is updated automatically after production.
