About the Role Excelon Solutions is seeking an experienced SAP IS-U Technical Consultant to join a strategic Utilities transformation project for a leading client in Orange, Connecticut. This position is ideal for SAP professionals with strong technical expertise in SAP IS-U and extensive ABAP development experience within utility industry environments. As an SAP IS-U Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting SAP IS-U applications that streamline utility business processes. You will work closely with functional consultants, solution architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and high-performance technical solutions across customer service, billing, metering, device management, and enterprise integration landscapes. The successful candidate will participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including technical design, development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous optimization while ensuring compliance with SAP development standards and best practices. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain SAP IS-U technical solutions using SAP ABAP and ABAP Objects. Develop Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflow (RICEF) objects to support utility business processes. Build and enhance custom developments using BADIs, User Exits, BAPIs, Enhancement Framework, and OOABAP. Develop and support interfaces using IDocs, RFCs, Web Services, and SAP Workflow. Design and optimize inbound and outbound integration solutions between SAP IS-U and external applications. Develop parallel and mass processing programs to efficiently handle large utility data volumes. Analyze and optimize ABAP programs for SAP HANA performance and database efficiency. Prepare technical specifications, design documents, unit test cases, and deployment documentation. Collaborate with functional teams to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions. Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing, production deployment, and post-go-live support. Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term technical improvements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. 8–12 years of SAP technical consulting experience with strong exposure to SAP IS-U. Hands-on experience in SAP ABAP, ABAP Objects, and enterprise application development. Strong knowledge of SAP Utilities business processes and technical architecture. Experience developing RICEF objects, interfaces, enhancements, and workflow solutions. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with global project teams in Agile delivery environments.
