Interview Question
What is a Posting Period?
Answer
A Posting Period is a time period in which financial transactions can be recorded in SAP.
SAP allows postings only in open posting periods. Once a period is closed, users cannot post transactions in that period.
This helps maintain accurate financial records.
Real-Time Example
A company has completed its financial activities for April 2026.
The finance team closes Posting Period 01 (April).
Now:
✅ Users can post transactions in May.
❌ Users cannot post new transactions in April.
This prevents accidental changes to already finalized financial data.
